Lars and the Real Girl. It’s a great little intimate film with great actors and a quiet humanistic beauty to it. Ryan Gosling pulls off shy and socially inept well and Emily Mortimer as his motherly sister-in-law is congenially radiant. Paul Schneider is, as always, right on key. All in all the film is a sincere little character study of a hurt and lonely man trying to find companionship in a social world he’s not quite ready for.
